Mt. Pleasant Cemetery of Center Moriches takes great pride in its services. We meticulously manicure and maintain our property to showcase its beauty. Making it a wonderful final resting place for any loved ones. But far more than how things appear, we take great care in how we serve our families. And part of that care is reflected in reevaluating how we can improve upon our cemetery services.
One of the those services we've seriously looked at improving is our crematory process. Some individuals prefer this option over ground burials. But just like a traditional ground burial, we’re careful to give the utmost respect and dignity to your deceased loved one. We know how important this is and we treat
As with most crematory systems, after a body is fully cremated, you are left with the remains, also known as ashes. These are typically gathered and placed in a decorative urn. The way in which the ashes are collected is with the use of a wire brush. The wire brush moves along the bottom and pushes the remains to the back of the crematory machine. But besides your loved one's remains, what often gets included is the cement that gets scraped up and any other remaining remnants. Our certified crematory operators do our very best to gather the remains of just your loved one. We're very careful to clean out and sweep the unit as best as we can before beginning another cremation. However, there is no perfect solution.
Since 2012, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery has been using a state-of-the-art patent pending cremation sweeping tool, currently called "Clean Sweep." What makes our system different is in how we gather your loved one's remains. Unlike the typical wire brush used to clean out the retorts, our tool uses air to extract only the remaining fragments (ashes) of your loved one and not the remains of other cremations. This reduces what is known as the "co-mingling of ashes."
Mt. Pleasant continually raises the bar on how we care for your loved ones and serve you best. We will continue to find innovative ways to improve our cemetery and cremation services. We proudly help people across Long Island deal with this difficult time. If this is the path you wish to choose or you want more information about our cremations, please contact us today.
